What are Veneers?

If your teeth showcase some undesirable effects such as being chipped, worn down, or discolored, then you may be a candidate for veneers. Veneers are ultra-thin shells constructed of ceramic (porcelain) or a composite resin material, which are bonded to the front of the teeth. These two types of veneers are able typically fabricated by a dental technician in a laboratory and are placed right here in the Ardas Family Dental office in Parker, CO.

The first step in receiving veneers is scheduling a consultation and discussing with your dentist the result you are trying to achieve. During this appointment, X-rays and impressions may be taken. The procedure itself requires little or no anesthesia and can be the ideal choice for restoring your smile. Once veneers have been applied, for about a week or two, you will go through a period of adjustment as you get used to your new teeth that have changed in size and shape. In the end, your result will be a brand new, confident smile.

If you have questions about veneers, please give us a call. To learn more about services we provide at the practice, visit Cosmetic Dentist Parker, CO for more information. To schedule an appointment with one of our doctors at Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, call 720- 459-8420.

Crown Lengthening

Occasionally, a patient will come in with excess gum tissue, a condition often referred to as “gummy smile”. Here at Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, we understand that sometimes patients can become self-conscious over “gummy smile” as it makes their teeth appear short. For this reason, and several general dental reasons, we are able to perform a crown lengthening.

Crown lengthening is the process of “lengthening” the crown of a tooth. In actuality, it is actually the process of removing gum tissue. This can be performed for patients with excess gum tissue or in the case where dental work needs to be performed underneath the gumline.

First, your doctor will make incisions to the gums to pull them back. In some cases, this is all that needs to be done to expose more of the teeth. In other cases, the bone tissue there holding the tooth in will also need to be removed. The gums are sterilized and then stitched into place. When a crown lengthening is performed, even if only one tooth needs to be worked on, several teeth in the area will also be lengthened so that the gum line can heal in a natural line.

If you are self-conscious about your “gummy smile” or are in need of dental work below the gumline, trust the professionals here at Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO. To set up an appointment, call our office at (720) 459-8420 or visit Cosmetic Dentistry, Parker CO

Dental Implants

A dental implant is able to last a lifetime, just like a normal tooth can. At Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, we offer dental implants as the best tooth replacement option out on the market. Keep reading to learn about dental implants and how they are installed.

Dental implants are the most durable option for a tooth replacement that there is. The titanium implant post is surgically inserted into your bone socket, so it is more stable than a bridge or a denture. Plus, they are able to last a lifetime, so with good care, they will not need to be replaced in the future.

To begin the implant process, your dentist will first make an incision in your gum tissue. This will allow access to the bone socket where the titanium implant post is inserted. The implant post will need several months to heal before a permanent crown can be placed, so a temporary crown will be placed at this time. After the healing period is finished, an abutment is placed on the implant post to serve as the base of your new tooth. Then, your custom crown will be permanently cemented into place.

Dental implants are able to last a lifetime with good dental care. A good oral care routine for home includes brushing two or three times per day and daily flossing. Routine visits to your dentist for cleanings and examinations will also make sure the implant stays in good shape.

If you are looking into tooth replacement options, do not pass over the dental implant. To set up a consultation in our Parker, CO office, call Ardas Family Dental at (720) 459-8420 or visit Family Dentist Parker, CO

Benefits of Dentures

At Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, we provide dentures to patients who have missing teeth but do not want to undergo an invasive procedure such as dental implants. Dentures are replacements for missing teeth that can be taken out and put back into your mouth. While these mouthpieces might take some getting used to, and will never feel exactly the same as your natural teeth, today’s dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever before.

If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from gum disease, tooth decay, or injury, replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. That’s because dentures make it easier to eat and speak better than you ever could without teeth. There are different types of dentures, but they each type offers the same overall benefits. For example, when you lose all of your teeth, facial muscles can sag, making you appear older than you actually are. Dentures can also improve your appearance and smile, because, without support from the denture, facial muscles can sag, making a person look older. If you already have dentures, be sure that you are taking proper care of them.

If you are missing teeth and would like to discuss your treatment options, please give us a call. To learn about services we provide at our practice, visit Medicaid Dentist Parker, CO . To schedule an appointment at Ardas Family Dental, call our Parker, CO office at (720) 459-8420.

How Night Guards Can Help You

Grinding your teeth can wear down enamel and cause jaw pain. Unfortunately, many people who grind their teeth do not know they do it because it happens while they are sleeping. Here at Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, we can diagnose night grinding and offer patients a night guard to protect their teeth from further damage.

Night grinding can create painful and sensitive teeth, jaw pain, facial pain, and even tooth damage. Because the enamel is worn down, it can make teeth prone to cavities. Night grinding may also lead to TMJ dysfunction.

To protect the teeth from damage and to cushion the jaw and facial structures, we can provide our patients with a night guard. A night guard is a mouthpiece worn while you sleep. It creates a barrier between the top and bottom teeth; creating a protective cushion. For night grinders, a night guard is essential to maintain oral health and relieve pain.

If you have been told you grind your teeth or if you are waking up with a sore jaw, night guards may be what you need to protect your teeth. To schedule an appointment at Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, call us at (720) 459-8420 or visit, Family Dentist Parker, CO

Lumineers for a Brand-New Smile

While there are many reasons why someone may be unhappy with their smile, there is a cosmetic option that can work for all of those reasons. Here at Ardas Family Dental, we offer Lumineers to give patients a brand-new smile, no matter what types of imperfections are present.

It’s always nice to be prepared for an event or a picture with a great-looking smile you can be proud of. Dental imperfections like gaps, cracks, misalignments, discoloration and more can affect how you feel about your smile and whether or not you show it off. Fortunately, Lumineers are able to fix the look of dental issues like these and more.

Lumineers are very thin ceramic shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth. They are permanent, so you are able to eat and use them just like normal teeth. They are, however, able to be completely reversed if that is a desire in the future. Lumineers are stain-resistant and strong. If you take care of them, they are able to look good and last for over twenty years!

Lumineers are completely customized, so we begin by taking an impression of your teeth. We send these impressions, along with pictures and info, to a dental laboratory where your custom Lumineers are created. When ready, your teeth are only lightly etched to aid a strong bond and the Lumineers are bonded into place.

If you desire a brand-new and long-lasting smile, Lumineers might be what you desire. To schedule a consultation with Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, call us at (720) 459-8420 or visit Lumineers, CO

Infant Tooth Care

Here at Ardas Family Dental – A Kids and Family Dental Office, we encourage new parents to implement good oral hygiene habits at a young age due to the fact that baby teeth act as placeholders for adult teeth. Since baby teeth usually emerge around six months of age, brushing, and flossing isn’t required for your infant. However, to prevent serious oral health conditions such as baby bottle tooth decay - a disease that causes severe, swift decay of baby teeth, you should start caring for baby’s gums right away.

Before your child’s first tooth arises, wipe the gums off after each feeding with a warm, wet washcloth or a dampened piece of gauze wrapped around your finger. This will help keep them free of decay and allow for proper spacing when the teeth begin to emerge. You should continue to do this until your child is old enough to hold a toothbrush themselves. At Ardas Family Dental, we recommend scheduling a dental exam before your child’s first birthday to assure that the teeth and gums are in proper health.

If you have questions about infant tooth care, please give us a call. If you are searching for a pediatric dentist in the Parker, CO area please give us a call. To learn more about services we provide at the practice, visit Pediatric Dentist Parker, CO for more information or call 720-459-8420.

Medicaid Dentist - Parker, CO

These days, the lack of dental coverage has become a serious challenge that American healthcare faces today. To put in perspective, dental insurance coverage is much less common than medical insurance in the United States. To combat this issue, Medicaid is the primary agency for dental coverage among adults with low incomes. This is why our staff at Ardas Family Dental accepts this type of insurance at our practice.

Medicaid provides dental coverage to certain categories of people with lower incomes and is a voluntary partnership program between the federal government and individual states. Categories include all children and adults under 65 years of age.  Medicaid covers routine dental care, and most dental procedures such as cleanings, fillings, tooth extractions or dentures.

If you have questions about Medicaid or other insurance options accepted at our office, please give us a call. To learn about services we provide at the practice, visit Medicaid Dentist Parker, CO for more information. Tooth Decay Prevention

If you don’t practice proper oral hygiene on a daily basis, you may suffer the consequences sooner rather than later.  Tooth decay is one of the most common of all diseases, second only to the common cold. Preventive strategies don’t just rely on brushing and flossing, they count on your dietary habits (such as sugar intake) as well. At Ardas Family Dental, our doctors can develop and guide you through an individualized treatment plan to prevent the decay process.

Tooth decay is defined as the destruction of tooth structure and it can affect both the enamel (the outer coating of the tooth) and the dentin layer of the tooth. The dentin surrounds the pulp and when the pulp becomes damaged, sensitivity will commence. The tooth decay process begins when bacteria in our mouths combine with food debris and saliva to form plaque, which clings to the teeth. To prevent plaque from lingering, it’s important to brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, and clean between your teeth with floss or an interdental cleaner. Additionally, you should eat nutritious and balanced meals, while limiting snacks, and visit our staff at Ardas Family Dental every six months for a routine checkup.

If you have questions regarding your oral hygiene routine, give us a call. To learn more about services we provide at the practice, visit General Dentist Parker, CO for more information. To schedule an appointment with one of our doctors at Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, call 720- 459-8420.

How to Properly Floss: Flossing your teeth is more important to your well-being than brushing

So why do people come up with silly excuses such as, “I’m not coordinated enough to floss,” or “I don’t know how to floss.” After today, you won’t be able to use these excuses anymore, because our staff at Ardas Family Dental is going to teach you how to floss and floss correctly.

  • Break off about 18 inches of floss and wind most of it around one of your middle fingers. Wind the remaining floss around the same finger of the opposite hand. This finger will take up the floss as it becomes dirty.

  •  Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and forefingers.

  • Guide the floss between your teeth using a gentle rubbing motion. Never snap the floss into the gums.

  • When the floss reaches the gum line, curve it into a “C” shape against one tooth. Gently slide it into the space between the gum and the tooth.

  • Hold the floss tightly against the tooth. Gently rub the side of the tooth, moving the floss away from the gum with up-and-down motions. Repeat this method on the rest of your teeth and don’t forget the back ones!

If you have questions regarding your oral hygiene routine, give us a call. To learn more about services we provide at the practice, visit Emergency Dentist Parker, CO for more information. To schedule an appointment with one of our doctors at Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, call 720- 459-8420.

Are You Brushing Correctly?

To prevent cavities, you need to remove plaque, the transparent layer of bacteria that coats the teeth after you eat foods that are high in carbohydrates. When plaque is left untreated, it can turn into tartar that only our doctors and hygienists at Ardas Family Dental are able to remove. In order to prevent plaque buildup, you need to brush your teeth twice a day and floss at least once a day.

Brushing also stimulates the gums, which helps to keep them healthy and prevent gum disease. Therefore, if you want to keep your permanent teeth for a lifetime, try utilizing these tips the next time you brush.

  • Place your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle against the gums.

  • Move the brush back and forth in a circular motion in short (tooth-wide) strokes.

  • Brush the outer tooth surfaces, the inner tooth surfaces, and the chewing surfaces of the teeth.

  • Use the tip of the brush to clean the inside surfaces of the front teeth, using a gentle up-and-down stroke.

  • Brush your tongue to remove bacteria. If you have questions regarding your oral hygiene routine, give us a call. To learn more about services we provide at the practice, visit Dentist Parker, CO for more information. To schedule an appointment with one of our doctors at Ardas Family Dental in Parker, CO, call 720- 459-8420.

During your child’s first visit, we will examine their teeth and gums, do a professional cleaning, take any necessary x-rays, if age appropriate, and teach you how to remove plaque from your child’s teeth and gums. In addition, we will also take advantage of the opportunity to discuss the best ways to help your child develop good dental habits.
